U.S. Soccer Foundation’s Annual Gala
On June 2010, the world will turn its attention to South Africa as it plays host to the ultimate global sporting event – the World Cup. In recognition of this historic event for the country and a lifelong commitment to fighting for justice, equality and humanity, the U.S. Soccer Foundation will honor The Most Reverend Desmond Tutu, Archbishop Emeritus of Cape Town, South Africa at its biennial gala on March 4, 2010 in Washington, DC. The U.S. Soccer Foundation will also honor Maureen and John Hendricks for their vision and invaluable support of women’s soccer in the United States and their leadership in launching women’s professional soccer in this country.
Proceeds from this event will be used to support programs that use soccer to improve the lives of at-risk youth in Washington, DC and South Africa.
